Introducing Oina Studio
Oina Studio is a new independent game studio in Canada. We make single-player, story-driven games for PC and console. This post is the introduction.
"Oina" means "play" in Kazakh. Our founder, Ramazan, is Kazakh Canadian. He grew up with the epic poetry and mythology of Central Asia and never once saw that world in a game. Plenty of studios have built great games from their own traditions — Greek myth, French heritage, South Asian family kitchens. The Kazakh steppe is still empty territory. That gap is why this studio exists.
Our first game is a single-player narrative adventure set in that world, built on Unreal Engine 5 for PC and console. It's in pre-production. It doesn't have a public name yet, and we're not going to announce it until we can show it properly. What we can promise is how we'll work: one game at a time, story first, and answerable to the culture we're drawing from.
